Isaiah 24:1

"Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof."

A view of judgment upon the earth is found in this chapter.  Judgments are usually defined against a person, a group, or even a nation.  Very rare is it to come upon the whole earth and what shall be.

Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty - word study, make;  Who else could empty the eath but the Lord?  This phrase alone demonstrates the certainty of God's omnipotence.  He is creator and sustainer of the whole earth.  He is the One Who makes and allows for life and time to be.  We are nothing and have nothing without Him.  And He holds it all in His hand.

And as God made the earth (as found in Genesis 1) so God can destroy the earth.  WE see the power of God to create by speaking it into existence or creating as He formed man of the dust.  And as He has the power to create so He has power to un-create.  That thought alone is too immense for me to grasp.  All that we know is found in time.  God is beyond time for He is eternal, immortal.  But everything in me, in my mind and comprehension is fixed on that which was or is.  But as I have being, it is by God's choosing.  And so rightly the other side of the paradox, that God has the right and ability to remove my being.

I thank Him that He gives me being, gives me purpose, gives me of His Ownself.  And I cannot take that for granted, for He is.
