Esther 8:6

"For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?"

We must take a personal look at these words of Esther today. The Jews had been sold into the hands of Haman for destruction. God in His mercy toward His people has begun to deliver them from desturction. Haman, the enemy of the Jews, has been destroyed, but that has not fixed the problem of the edict that has gone forth for the destruction of the Jews. With Haman now gone, the king listens to Queen Esther and Moredcai for advice. Here is her plea: For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? great questions of the Bible; word study, to see; word study, to come; Two questions here, the first deals with the people; the second, deals with her family. We must consider the same today for our own lives and those round about us. What is coming? Eternity. Where will people spend eterntiy? those that are saved in heaven; those that are lost in hell. How many? There are 7 billion people on the planet, 80 to 90 % are lost. There are 300 million people in North America, with the same number lost and perishing. How is it that the church can sit idly by and not agnoize over the lostness of humanity? How is it that we see the masses perishing and no hope is given, no salvation presented for sinners? Does it not begin with this plea from Esther? We do not believe we shall see the evil that is coming. We honestly think that things will continue on as is, and no troubbles or problems. We have forgotten as a people that has revelation revealed to us, that 'in the last days, things will grow worse and worse'. We have forgotten the spoken truth that the wrath and anger of the Lord will settle down upon the evil people of this earth. 'He will send His servant, with a threshing instrument, 'Put you in your sickle and reap'.' Brother, sister, destruction is coming for the nations fo the world. And once it comes, it will be too late. Can we endure to watch such desturction and not be moved? I know not what nature you are of , if you are not moved by such thoughts. And if that is not bad enough -- Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred? - great questions of the Bible; word study, to see; The second question gets more personal for Esther. For she knew that it would not only be the Jewish people abroad that she did not know, but it would be her own family and close members. Do you think that the wrath of God will pass over your house on judgement day? is it not so among the Christians today, that their households are lost as well the nations of the world? Parents saved, children lost; children saved, parents lost; spouses divided, with one saved and the other lost; siblings divided over salvation, 'The harvest is past, the summer is ended and we are not saved'. Here is the worse scenario, our family will be counted with them that go into hell for eternity. REaching out to us, saying, "SAve me, save me, I don't want to go there." But it will be too late, for when we was given time to do something about it, we didn't do anything. Can you stand to wait any longer? Is your heart and soul not crying out to 'seek and save that which is lost' now? How can anyone stand to watch their loved one destroyed if we did not do our best to rescue? And jsut as Esther was placed in a postition to do something about it, so are we. If the Gospel lives and breathes within you, you have the power of prayer, the witness of daily life in Christ, the promises of God in His holy Word. 'We should not cease in praying for them until they cease breathing.' Brethern, it is more than we can stand, let us be busy about our Lord's business. 'Redeeming the time, for the days are evil.' don't live with regrets while God has given today to accomplish work for His kingdom. Let us not go into eternity with the worst words in the English language, 'What might have been'.
