Esther 4:2

"And came even before the king's gate: for none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth."

The news of Haman, desiring to see the Jews wiped out had come to Mordecai's ears. And as he heard the news of death, he rent his clothes, put on sackcloth and cried out of sorrow. Such acts of grief are needful, especially upon such news as this. Are we not found any different? Is there news of such death, where a whole people will be wiped out? "Take these unprofitable servants and cast them into outer darkness where there is weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth." "Therefore hell hath enlarged its mouth to receive the souls going into it." Do we not understand the billions that will perish for eternity. No matter what the number, the billions on earth right now; the thousands of Jews during Mordecai's time or the one friend or family member, that they will all perish. No rescue, no water, no air, no compassion, no love, no God; nothing but suffering and pain for all eternity; oh, how awful the sight. What shall we do for such a lost generation? and came even before the king's gate - word study, to come; Mordecai knew the only place to undo the damage of Haman was the king. Is there anyone of this earth that can undo the damage of these last few generations apart from the Lord God? Then let us go to Him Who is mighty to saves. Go to the king's gate and there make your supplication and petitin unto Him, Who would have none to perish. Enter in to the place where we may make our request known and know that He is able to speak the word and evil will be undone. Remember, dear child of God, someone went to the king's gate for you. How sorrowful, that so many Christians take no interest nor desire to rescue the perishing, care for the dying. They speak to no one of their faith, they won't pray, they won't be a witness. And then people wonder why so many are lost and perishing. It is because the church does not care for the souls of men on their way to hell. Such a mass of humanity dying and going to hell does not bother them, like it did Mordecai. For if it bothered them, they would enter the King's gate to make supplication. They would mourn, agonize and cry out for something to be done. Where are the tears? where is the groaning? why is there no fasting? For the people of God do not see eternity and what's coming. Mordecai could have rested in the fact that Esther was queen and he was protected, but he didn't. He was moved to action and labor for a change. Be not content simply because you are saved, but see the lostness of man and know their eternity is hastening on. For none might enter into the king's gate clothed with sackcloth - he was not permitted to be in sorrow in the king's gate; It was the unspoken message that the king was to bear good tidings, joy and happiness. How sorrowful to come into God's throne room and not believe that the Soverign God of the universe can make a difference. We might be sorrowful over the lostness of man and the rampant sin of this earth; but the joy of the Lord is our strength. We are coming ot the King of kings and He is able to save unto the uttermost all that are lost and dying. Our sackcloth is to be removed and replaced with joy; our weakness is to be removed and replaced with strength; our lowly heart is to be blest in His promises and find hope; He is able. Take off the mourning, the sackcloth, the tears and know that 'tears may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning'. But whatt good is all these words if you do not beleive. 'For without faith it is impossible to please God.' Is there doubts? fears? uncertainty? Cast off these works of darkness and know that God is more willing to save that we are to seek for it. He has strangely moved us to seek Him for just such an occasion. Does it bother you of how many are lost? are you moved to action? do you weep? Have you approached unto the Lord for help and savlation? Cling to Him and hold fast to His Word and believe with all you heart, He is able. Keep your eyes on Him and not on the world's evil. 'Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith', and enter into the King's gate with thanksgiving and praise. For there is where prayers are answered and where sorrow is taken away, enter in, my beloved.
