Esther 1:12

"But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him."

Let us take note of this verse and see all the sin that lies within in it. When people behold the world they say, 'There is much sin in it.' But yet when asked to see sin in their own life, they can see nothing specific to name. It is needful to see the sin and name it. This is one of the reasons confession of sin is limited for the failure of God's chidlren to name the sins of their life, their families, the churches and the nation. But the queen VAshti refused to come - word study, to come; Three errors are found at this point. Again, recognize the sin in your life and see the carnal, evil that comes forth. For without recognizing it, it will continue and get worse. Unconfessed sin produces the fastest way of quenching the Holy Spirit and destroying your fellowship with the Lord. not to mention, 'If I regard iniquity in my life, the Lord will not hear me.' The first sin, the king is drunk when he calls for his wife, the queen. No good will come from a man or men that are drunk. Only evil can come of such actions. The second issue, 'she refuses to come'; She is his wife, and her actions are not submissive. I am not here to argue motive, just the stated issue. Most marriages are in disarray because of such actions by husband and wife. Neither is willing to yield and submit out of love toward one another. Vashti did not yield to her husband. Now if she knew he was drunk and was avoiding that situation, 'Avoid all appearance of evil.' 3. He was the king, and she was his servant, his queen. The order of society was disspelled. A subject has no right to disobey the word of the king. Yet, how many servants of the King of Kings, disobey His word for their own fleshly desires? Obey the word of the King. At the king's commandment by his chamberlains - the servants were sent forth with the word of the king; The order was proclaimed from the king's mouth, the servants of the king went forth to proclaim it faithfully. For that was their job to do. So is it with the children of the King, we are sent forth with the King's commandment to bring forth the Word of God. We read within the Word, we hear the Spirit speak and we know the Father's eternity awaiting; all this tells us to sound forth the commandment of the Lord, 'Be saved'. What would be done if the servants did not tell the commandment of the king? They would be jailed or killed for defiance. How much more weight upon us, as His servants, if we hold our peace? 'If the watchmen sound not the warning, the blood of the men killed will be on their hands.' We are issued forth into this world to proclaim the commandments of the King. We cannot worry with whether men will be like Vashti and refuse or accept, we are to tell the word faithfully. Therefore was the king wroth - his word was rejected; Just as the man became angry over his word being refused, for he was the king, so it is with the King of Kings when His word is rejected. 'The Lord is angry with the wicked every day.' Let us not see the fierce anger of the Lord upon us, for we are guilty in His Presence of negelct and deaf ears. The church has heard His word and knows His ways, and yet 'They have forsaken Me'. Why would the church provoke the Lord to anger? He holds our breath and can end our life, remove our blessings, withdraw His hand of protection, gather us with those of iniquity, humble us in the sight of the heathen; why would we provoke His anger? And how much more shall they that have refused His Son as Lord and Savior, see and know His anger. He will pronounce against them, 'Take this unprofitable servant out and bind them, hand and feet, and cast them into darkness, where the worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched.' and his anger burned within him - the fleshly anger consumes away our humanity; Rage over circumstances, people and situations can consume us for a lifetime. Many a soul has lived in anguish because they could not let go. You cannot allow for such anger to stay within you, it will be your undoing. The king dealt severly with Vashti for disobedience and his anger abated over time. The Lord in His righteous anger will deal with the lost for their rejection and sinfulness, for sin must be answered for. A holy anger will cause action. Just as Phineas was zealous when he killed the Midianite woman in the camp, his was a consuming anger against sin. Let the holy anger arise within the chidlren of the King and go forth wagin war against all such as offend our King and Lord. 'Tearing down strongholds' and 'proclaiming the Word of the Lord' against all such as disobey the commandments of the Lord God Almighty.
