Nehemiah 8:6

"And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground."

The work of true, glorious worship is found within this one verse. And Ezra blessed the Lord - all praise is to be given unto Him, Who is worthy; We do the opposite, we bless the people, and turn away from the Lord in blessing Him. Unto the Lord, we only offer our petitions. A rare thing it is to find one the worships the Lord in an impassioned way. Why is this? is it not taught? do they not desire to do it? Have we lost sight of Who He is? Many are the reasons and answers for such folly. 'Bless the Lord and all that is within me, bless the Lord'. Worship and adore His greatness. See the saints in heaven and how they bless and give praise unto Him. Be counted with the righteous who hold Him up. If you worship Him correctly, do it more throughout the day. 'SEven times during the day will I praise Thee'. And if you don't know how, then learn to give thanks, learn to see Him high and lifted up. Recognize His bountiful blessings; read in the Scripture all His attributes and wondrous works; declare Who He is. The great God - He is great and greatly to be praised; This is only one attribute of Who He is, He is grreat. Men take credit for being great, but only the Lord is great. Men are less and the same attriutes of description of God should not be made about man. This is horrible to think about. A boxer, who declares himself, 'the greatess', what shall be say we he meets 'the great God'? Who shall be great then? For when 'the greatess' meets 'the great God', all of his 'greatness' shall be revealed to be filthy rags and undone. and he shall say, 'All my works are nothing, all my accomplishments are poured out as nothing. You are great, and I am nothing'. Do not give the attributes of God unto men. What is it to be great? 'Markedly superior in character and quality; eminent and distinquished; remarkable in magnitude, degree, or effictiveness; notably large in size'. All of these are characteristics of 'the great God'. In each of His features these are true and worthy of adoring. His deeds are great and to be noted and praised. 'Consider His wondrous works'. And all the people answered, Amen and Amen - the people heard Ezra and were in agreement; What is it that the whole assembly responded in one accord? OH, that we might see it again. God's people declaring the 'Amen' to the things of God. Let all the people of the world attest to His glory and honor. Let it all come from geniune hearts crying out for it to be so. 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven'. what moves the people to such a place? It is the hand of God moving and directing them. With lifting up their hands - holy hands offered up to the Lord; The Lord is to be honored and the hands that He created are to be offered up for His service. How rigid and orthodox are the ones who will not lift up hands unto Him. They feel it to charismatic. The people of the Lord do so. What do you do with your hands? ARe they offered up to Him? Are you worshipping Him? And they bowed their heads - hands go up, heads go down; It is amazing to me to listen to worship leaders today, "Now everyone get up and worship". But almost every instance of worship in the Bible and in the movings of God's Spirit in revivals, the people went down. They humlbed themsevles in His Holy Presence. They did not lift themselves up to Him, they bowed to Him. Make sure you know what spirit you are of in worshipping Him. the heart of humility is down. And worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground - the place of true worship is to the ground, faces buried low; There is no room for pride. there is no place for exlatation of self. Bow the knee, lay prostrate, put your face down in the dirt. From dust we came to dust we go, we are nothing, He is everything. Let your heart and soul adore Him and put yourself in the true place of worshipping Him. He is worthy. Note the 24 elders, that at His Name being declared, they throw their crowns unto Him and fall down and worship. If those so close to His Presence do so, what should we do in prayer and worship? LEt our hearts learn humility before Him. Let us worship correctly instead of misguided emotional pleas of self gratification. All to Him I owe, all to Him I give. Is your all unto Him? Let the whole heart, soul and mind worship Him rightly.
