Nehemiah 5:19

"Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people."

Nehemiah has worked and labored for the people to be established. When one looks at their efforts and labors, they want to know that it is not for nought. Solomon wrote, 'When I have labored, everything that I have made will go to one that did not labor; this is vantiy.' But Nehemiah was laboring for the city to be rebuilt and the people to be set up. And as he consdiers his works and labors, he wonders what how the Lord perceives them. Think upon me, my God - what are the thoughts of God toward me? Does He remember us? is He able to forget us? He Who is eternal, past present and future cannot forget what is always before Him. He, Who is omniscient cannot forget a person. When Christ was on the cross was His thoughts not of us? When the Spirit of God was brooding upon the deep in Genesis 1:2, was He not thinking upon us? He has always known us and thought upon us. How great are the thoughts of God toward us! He is my God, that is a personal declaration unto all the world. And His thoughts are toward me for His glory. What does God think of you? Do you please Him? Do you love Him? Can not the creation say to Him Who created us, 'All that I am is from Thy merciful hand'? His thoughts are of divine love; they are thoughts of mercy and blessing. How wretched the souls that think the Lord's thoughts unto them are evil continually. Is the Lord's thoughts evil? Can He Who is righteous think unholy thoughts? What of the sinner: His thoughts are not evil, to those that are in need of judgement and correction. Would we say about a parent that corrected their son, 'Don't touch the fire, it will burn you', that they are evil for correcting? Neither is our heavenly Father evil for correcting or judging the sinner who has rebelled against His holy plan of salvation. But every person shall give an account of their deeds and actions. His thoughts are good and pleasant to the soul that gives place to Him in their soul. Meditate on His thoughts toward thee. For good - Nehemiah weighed his actions in the light of God's mercy; Who can impart goodness except He which is good? The Lord was able to see and know all that Nehemiah had done and was doing to better the people and the conditions in Jerusalem. God honors and sees all the actions of man for His glory. And whether we receive good in this life time or not matters not, we shall receive our just rewards.
