II Kings 7:16

"And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord."

there are two things in this verse that speak to me. The people went out - word study, went; Now it is to me the word studies that I do that speak volumes to me. Here is the question, Because they went out, what did they find? And if they had not gone out, what would they have missed? There was a pile of bounty left behind by the Syirans. For the Lord had made them to flee away. The city had been surrounded and the famine was great within. And here again, look upon the faithfulness of God to His disobedient people. The prophet, Elisha, was withint he city walls; God always has His people in the right places. His glory was about to be shown again. And as consistent as God is toward His people, see their conttinued rejection of Him over and over again. ARe we any better than the children of Israel? How much has He done for you? What have you done for HIm? But it is the work of faith that secures this. For all this bounty was laying on the ground strewed throughout their quick exit. Just waiting to be picked up and spoiled. but if they did not go out, it would have laid and rotted and the greatness of this miracle would have been missed. How much blessigns are strewed throughout the landside and we miss out, becuse we went not out. Our God Who is merciful has provided great resources for His people but if we go not out, it will be wasted and missed. According to the word of the Lord - the second truth that should speak to us out of this verse; It is often repeated and given throught Scripture on the faithfulness of God to keep His word. I share it over and over so that it might finally make a firm foundation to our hearts. The Lord cannot lie, His word is sure and steadfast to His people. What He says, shall come to pass. Here in this chapter is the demonstration of what the Lord had said would come to pass, and here at the conclusion all was fulfilled. And what about us? Are we able to say, 'according to the word of the Lord'? Are we able to believe His Word? We must know it; we must memorize it; we must ponder on it with our hearts and let teh Spirit speak to us on it. This much is certain that if the Lord ahs spoken to you, it will come to pass. According to the Word of the Lord is a sure promise and hope for us. Let us anchor ourselves in His blessed Word, feasting on the hopes of it. The people of God are filled to much with uncertainty, too much unbelief and have settled for someone's else word or their own word rather than 'according to the Word of the Lord.' Itis a prophetic word, it is sure, that which shall be, He already knows and it is ceratain. It is a word of encouragement; for does not the Lord know the plights that we face and that will befall us? Then according to the word of the Lord let it be established in Him for our strength and uplifting. It is a word of edifying, the need to overcome and be lifted up in Him. It is a word of rebuke, for our neglect, our unbelief, our foolishness of fear, doubt, and mistrust in Him. so let it be established, it is the Word of the Lord. According to the Word of the Lord
