II Kings 2:14

"And he took the mantel of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? And when he aslo had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over."

Elijah had been carried away and was gone. Only his mantle remained behind for elisha to pick up and use. The way the two had crossed over was the way Elisha used to return across. Upon taking the mantle, he took the place of Elijah as the prophet of the Lord. where is the Lord God of Elijah? great questions of the Bible; AS if now to say, Elijah is gone to be with You, now will You be with me? elijah had stood against the prophets of BAal and no doubt, everyone knew his name abroad. The power of God was upon Him, who called fire out of heaven and made the rain to cease for over three years. The power of God to be upon Elisha was now being invoked by this question. And what of today? Is there not a man to take the mantle and smite the waters and cry out for the Lord God Almighjty to show Himself mighty? Where is the Lord God of the book of Acts? Where is the God of Finney? The God of Wesley? The God of Edwards? The God of Brainerd? Is He asleep, away for forgetful of His people? No, a thousand times no. He is near and stands ready to show Himself mighty unto those that are perfect toward Him. Those men were perfect toward Him. There is no perfection today. But soon God will reveal such a man for it is not the man but for the glory of His Name among the nations. And when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither - the hand of God to separate the waters; Moses separated the waters; Joshua separated the waters; Elijah separated the waters; and Christ walked on the waters and commanded the seas. For God Almighty made the waters and He commnads all of His creation in heaven and earth. And went over - word study, went;
