"And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord."
Hezekiah went up into the house of the Lord - word study, went; The Lord had delivered Judah out of the hand of the king of Assyria. But it was not a time to rejoice, for a letter was sent threatening and warning Judah and Hezekiah that this wasnot over but the Lord God of Judah would not be able to deliver Judah out of the hand of the Assyrians. It is not a wise thing to do to threaten the Lord. The foolishness of people to believe in false gods and believe in their own ability. Failure to give glory and thanks to God for what He has done, is an affront unto Him. These heathen nations refused to hear the truth and recognize that God is Lord of heaven and earth. He maketh nations to rise and fall, He puts in kings and removes them. The Lord God Almighty is in control of this world and all that is found therein. Our personal lives are under His watchful eye, and there is nothing that happens that is a secret to Him, for He knows all. If there be problesm, difficulties, words said against you, go up to the house of the Lord. There you find the Lord waiting for you to reveal on that is on your heart. Hezekiah knew enough to worship the Lord and declare his hearts desires unto Him. For the Lord delighteth in His children's prayers and faith in Him. Let us not be vain or sinful in neglecting of going to Him. Let us not fail to pray and seek His face. Far to long this has been the affront of God's own people, we have neglected the Lord. We are in the situation we are in this nation for such neglect. "Return unto Me, andI will return unto you." Will we not find Him mericful? Will we not find Him mighty to save? Let us not forsake the assemblying of ourselves together, but go up to the altar of the Lord. That wonderful invitational son, 'Is Your All on the Altar?' speaks volumes about what used to be in the church in this land. But then they forsook the altar, they forsook the mourners bench and made it a designer show for looks and beeauty. What we need is people that will bow the knee and the face before the Lord as Hezekiah did and worhsip Him and cry out ot Him. And spread it before the Lord - is this not the need of the hour? Let those that read this make this day, a day of prayer of spreading out before the Lord the great need of the hour. Hezekiah received this threatening demeaning letter against him, Judah and the Lord, and where else to go but unto the Lord. Declare before Him all that is on your heart and mind. Lay it out before Him that which bothers, disrupts and causes sorrow. Is it possible that one would say, they have nothing to spread out before the Lord? Is there not a cause? Is there not a need? How blind so many are on what is happening and where our nation is going. We are plummeting into hell on the fast track in our nation. Evil is rising, wickedness is spreading faster and faster and the lost are dying by the scores and dropping into hell, is there not cause for prayer? Families are exploding apart, divorce continues its rampage against ungodly and godly homes and children have lost their innocence, is this not something to spread out before the Lord? Cancer, diseasee, sickness and death continues to afflict every home, almost the same as the night of the Lord passing over Egypt in which every home suffered, is it not a time to go before the Lord? Spread it out dear brethern, bring all your cares, needs, wants and lay it out before th Lord. Hold nothing back, He is able to deal with it all. He desires to show Himself mighty before the eyes of this lost generation and the nations that have gnashed the teeth at Him. Let us not be as we have been for so long in neglecting Him and instead of spreading our desires out before Him, holding them to ourselves or trying to deal with it oursevles. The hour is desperate, just as it was to Hezekiah and may our hearts and souls obey as He did in going ot the right place and doing the right thing.
