I Kings 3:12

"Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee."

the Lord had asked Solomon to make his request unto the Lord. solomon had asked for wisdom to lead the people. The Lord was intreated by his request and granted it to him. Many a time I have pondered the question if it would be asked of me. The answer reveals so much of a person and where they view themselves in the light of God's will. Behold, I ahve done according to thy words - the Lord grants his request, He is still compassionate to hear and answer our prayers; Because his answer for wisdom so pleased the Lord, He granted it ot him. Let it encourage us that we might hear the same from Him as well. Are you making supplication to Him? ARe you crying out for His will to be done? What would you give for God to say to you, following your prayers? 'I have done according to thy words'. Could it not be that many people expect nothing from the Lord, because they are asking nothing of the Lord. Lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart - word study, to give; God is the giver of wisdom; for wisdom proceeds from Him. Who is all wise as He? there is none that matches or compares to Him Who is wisdom and understanding. He is imparting to Solomon and He will impart to us. 'If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God Who giveth to all men.' God is the one Who is able to do such things, and man cannot selfindulge in this. Let us not resolve in our minds to gain or achieve this but acknowledge He is the only One able to give us such things. And these things are not to be given for our own selfish advancement or pleasure. They are given for His glory and honor to be recognized and adored by the nations.
