"And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak."
Ahab and Jehoshaphat are teamed up to go and fight against Ramothgilead. Ahab is wicked and has his false prophets gathered around to tell him what he wants to hear. Jehoshaphat is God fearing and must see through this false prophecy. He asks for a real prophet,"Is there one?' And Ahab knew exactly what he was asking for, and says, "Yes, there is one". Isn't it amazing that there is only one? Are we able to say today, "is there one man of God to proclaim, 'Thus saith the Lord. . .'? " This one prophet was, Micaiah. I am so impressed by this man, that I named my third son's middle name after him, Jonathan Micaiah. Of course, it is with the hope that he will be and fulfill this verse for the Lord. As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak - there is no falsehood in what he will proclaim; The servant that was to fetch the one prophet told Micaiah what the other prophets had said. He wanted him to comprimise and say exactly what they had said. This is Micaiah's response to that comprimise. Now it is that every Christian is to live by the same standard of this mark. We may no all be prophets to declare future events like he did, but we are to live by the word of the Lord. We are to speak it, we are not to change it. The warning in Revelation should teach us, "If any man add to or take away from this word, let the curses of this book come upon him." That is a warning not to change or alter the word of the Lord. But what the Lord has said, we must adhere to and live by. We must tell those all around us what the word of the Lord is. LEt us not be ashamed their eternal destination depends on it. If we be ashamed and comprimise then we are like the false prophets of Ahab. is there not one among us?
