I Kings 18:43

"And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times."

What a masterful account of prayer and faith. The servant has no faith; by the way, who is this servant of no name? Elijah is on his knees praying and believing until the answer comes. 'The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.' Go up now - word study, to go; The pressing time is now. Today is the salvation, now is the accepting time. Let us go now, not tomorrow, for it may be too late. Let us arise, for we have far too long be slumbering and busy about the wrong business. Go up now and do your Lord's bidding. Seek His face, inquire of Him and wait for Him. And if you delay, know that you will miss the opportunity that cannot be restored. Obey now, for everything depends on it. Look toward the sea - word study, to look; they was inland and the sea lay to the west. Most storms would come from off the water, and Elijah and told his servant to go and look toward the sea to see what was there. Now as the servant of the Lord went, Elijah was in conversation with the Lord. He had just defeated the fase god and the prophets and the people were ready to return unto the Lord. And now for the fulfilment of God's word, 'today, there will be rain'. Let the word bew accomplished to honor YOur Name among Your people, he prayed. go and look and see what is on thehorizon. and may I ask of you, dear reader, what are you looking for? Are you expecting something of faith from your faithful High Priest? Is He not able to do all things? Is He not able to send rain from cloudless skies? Yea, Lord, You are able; then look brethern and see the wonders of the Lord. How wonderful is that word found throughout the Scripture, "Look". What are you looking for? And he went up - word study, went; He obeyed the voice of Elijah and went up to look. Let us be sure that when we have a word from the Lord that we are faithful and obedient in all things. May it be said of us, "He went up" and was found obeying that which the Lord spoke to us. When the evening falls today, have you went up where you were supposed to be? Obey and go. And looked , and said, There is nothing- word study, to look; there be many that are obedient in religious duty and that alone. There is no faith, no love that moves them, they are creatures of obedience just through duty. We should obey to see God glorified, not to obey for the works sake. And to go without faith is an affront to ou Lord. This servant went, he looked, he did all that was expected, but without expecting to see anything. Perhaps he said, "What am I to be looking for?" and he went not knowing what he was to see. Ho many of saints go forth doing their duty, but expecting nothing. They pray, but never expect answers; they worship in church services, but never expect to be met by God; they witness, but never expect to see a soul saved. It is the work of busyness, but not of faith; it is vanity. And many a church is saying, 'We see nothing'. then may the Lord take away the scales so that we may see as He would have of us. But to those that arise in faith, it may seem like nothing to some but to them it is enough. How many fish and bread have you? Five and two; it is nothing compared to the multitude in need. and Jesus says, "It is enough". How many miracles that seemed as nothing? But with the touch of the Masters hand, it is enough and to spare. He is faithful that to declare His greatness to those that cannot see nothing. Go again, seven times - word study, to go; The number seven, how mysterious and perfect it is. Seven days of creation; seven men for deacons; seven churches, seven golden candlesticks; seven stars; seven is God's perfect number. And the saints are marked with the number of 777; the number of 666 is dreaded and feared so much, but it is simply the mark of man, one number short of perfection and the number of the beast is the the number of a man. Now go 7 times, and i wonder if his faith began to rise each time he went. Until the last time when he saw the cloud the size of man's hand. Before all the times, there was nothing; Now, there is something. Do you believe enough to keep going until 7 times, until 7 x 70 until nothing is something? Where is your faith? Where is your belief in a mighty God? Go up and look and believe.
