II Samuel 5:10

"And David went on, and grew geat, and the Lord God of hosts was with him."

He had just conquered the city of Jerusaleum and was established as king of all Israel. And DAvid went on - word study, went; Where did he go on to? Having secured his place of the ruling city, there were other places to conquer and put down rebellion. He went on in his work to establish the kingdom of israel as servants of the most high God. He went on doing the work that God set before him. What of you? Too many it cannot be said of them that they 'went on' because they are stopped, they are occupied withsoemthing. They were stuck in a rut, buyoued down with earthly matters. Paul the great missionary, 'went on' to other places preaching and teaching the Gospel message of Christ. Jesus in His ministry, 'went on' to do the work of His FAther unto all the places He was sent. We must have said of us, 'they went on', doing the work despite Satan's attacks, despite the earthly pressures. Labor not fo the things of this earth but for the heavenly places of glory. And grew great - a testimony of God's hand upn him; Too many wish to grow great in their own abilities and achievements, but not for the glory of the Lord. They seek to grow great in earthly fame, riches and make a name for themselves, but this is all vanity. David grew great in the Lord for it was the Lord's grace and mercy that was given unto him. You and I must seek the favor of the Lord so that He, our blessed Lord, would be greatly praisedin all the earth. Grow great in Him, grow great for Him and grow great for the witness of His mighty hand, that they might see His mighty wonders. If you are seeking to grow great for any other purpose than that of the Lord's glory and honor, it is sin and only folly to follow. Do not get trapped in the worldy purusits of self seeking greatness. This is all one thought here, one verse, one statement coupled together. David was able to 'go on, grow great' because of the last phrase here: and the Lord God of hosts was with him - only the Lord can do such things as these; Without Him I am nothing; without Him nothing is holy or divine; without Him 'I suredly fail'. But with Him all things are possible. What say you, brethern, is the Lord with you? is there evidence? is there faith?
